Talent Box Software Updates in May & June 2019

Below are the May & June 2019 changes to the Talentbox.app Student and Teacher sites (and in some cases, the Windows “Workspace” app) that are used by schools:

Student site — learn.talentbox.app

• New Badge-receiving process: There is no more “Reviews” page or “Get Badge” button for the student.  Instead, when you award a student a badge, they will receive it immediately in their portfolio.  Additionally, both “Needs Work” and “Success” submissions will appear in a drop-down menu for the student with a notification next to the student name.  The student can click the submission in the drop-down menu to see the feedback on their submission or be given a congratulatory popup, respectively. This process is designed to be quick and non-intrusive to the student’s learning flow.
• Badges are clickable:  If a student clicks on a badge in their Portfolio which was received via submission, it will link them to the page where they submitted it.  This is designed to let students more easily re-access their old work and see the positive feedback on it.

Teacher site — teach.talentbox.app

• Single Sign On (SSO): SSO is a helpful feature in modern websites which allows you to log in not only with the regular website credentials, but also connect your other accounts like Google and log in with one click.  You may connect Google, LinkedIn, or Clever accounts to your Talent Box account. To do this, log in with your Talent Box credentials, click your name at the top right, and click “Connect” below your option of choice.  You will be prompted to enter the proper credentials for the outside site. Once it’s connected, you can login to teach.talentbox.app next time simply by selecting the connected option instead of typing a username and password.
• Improvements to submission review:  The Submission Review (4th tab) page’s filters work better and more clearly display the information that you need to see specific submissions from students.  Also, the page remembers your filter settings if you leave and come back!
• Immediately log in as a student:  If you are logged into teach.talentbox.app, you will now see an icon (a little face) in the top right corner.  Clicking this will immediately log you into learn.talentbox.app as a student.  This allows quicker navigation and testing between accounts.
• Certificate Viewing:  On a student’s profile page on teach.talentbox.app, you can generate a certificate for completed tracks (via an icon next to the track).  This feature is now only available for tracks that are marked 100% percent completed. If a student views all parts of a track and submits successful work for the entire track, give this a try!
• Account security:  Teacher passwords are now hidden from other teachers in the Talent Box student search & edit pages.  If you need a password reset for a teacher account, please contact support@empow.me.

Windows Workspace

• Teachers can log into the Workspace now by typing their 7-digit code as the username instead of their email, just like a student would.  (Note that this is not a new version of Workspace, just an online systems update)
